ISO 26000

ISO 26000 is an international standard that provides guidance on how businesses can fulfil the expectations made of them, just as the standard can inspire companies to do even more. ISO 26000 can be used by all types of companies, irrespective of their size and geographical location.

The standard focuses on human rights, labour conditions, environmental conditions, consumer conditions, responsible social development, corporate governance and fair business practices. ISO 26000 provides guidance and recommendations on the topics that a socially responsible organisation should focus on when determining targets and policies, reporting, etc. The work on creating this standard began in 2004 and involved experts from more than 90 countries and 40 international or regional organisations that are engaged in CSR activities. In contrast to other ISO standards, ISO 26000 certification cannot be achieved, as it is a guidance standard.
