Phase 3: Selection of suppliers
In this phase, there is good advice on how to select the suppliers that your efforts should be focused on.
While it can be advantageous to communicate your Code of Conduct to all suppliers, there will be limits to how many suppliers you can engage in closer dialogue with concerning CSR.
Selection of the suppliers on which your efforts will be focused is a question of weighing the resources you have available against the importance of the suppliers and the risks of adverse impacts on CSR principles. It is important that you are aware of the CSR risks that are particularly relevant in your supply chain.
The two stages of this phase are:
Selection of suppliers
- Give priority to suppliers of high commercial importance
- Give priority to high-risk suppliers
- Investigate relevant country risks
- Investigate relevant sector risks
